Stealth Heat Vs Oil Filled Radiators which is best?

We have all seen plummeting temperatures of late and we have all used our tried and tested go to methods.

Be it positioning a Tent next to a radiator, using an oil filled radiator or then a tube heater. Only to heat a grow space that is replenishing the air you heat.

The Stealth Heater is a new heating technology that heats the plant and not the air to which the plants breath and circulate.
The new heat technology being FARINFRARED, a non visible light wave that radiates heat similar to the sun without the light.

We put oil filled radiators, tube heaters and our infrared stealth heaters to the test, and the results vs costs are shown below.

Oil Filled Radiators – Ideal Use – Large open grow spaces, with minimal air exchange (1 to 4 radiators @ 2000WATT)

Tube Heaters – Ideal Use – Smaller tents including propagation tents up to 800 x 800 x 1.60 (1 to 2 tube heaters @ 120WAT)

Stealth Heaters – Ideal Use tents from 600 x 600 x 1.6 up to 3.0 x 3.0 x 3.0 Grow spaces (1 to 4 units @ 360WATT)

Our results are based on 12 hours of use in a 2 x 2 x 2 tent, with a negative pressure air exchange. Tube heaters have not been included needless to say are not suitable for 2 x 2 x 2 tent or grow spaces.

Oil Filled Radiators – The results

If you intend to keep your system circulating air the Oil Filled radiators are inferior to the stealth heat, this is due to the heated air being extracted rapidly, the plants nearest to the radiator will get minimal radial heat, negating the effectiveness of the energy used and the heat produced. We then ran a test with a temperature controlled operation which in turn proved again to be unsuccessful, due to rapid heat up and heat extraction.

Stealth Heat, – The results

If you intend to keep your system circulating air the Stealth Heaters are a superior product to that of the Oil Filled Radiators, this is namely due to the stealth heaters new radial heat technology. Instead of heating the air the stealth heater heats the plants, this ensures that even if the air is sub zero, the plants will be at the temperature you set. This works in air circulation, non air circulation environments.

Stealth Heat pros and cons, The Cons

  • initial investment can be costly

The Pros

  • No wasted heat,
  • Lower energy consumption in comparison to an Oli Filled Radiator
  • No Visible light
  •  Slim Line – Mountable to the ceiling/ roof of your grow space minimizing plant burn and rapid drying.
  • No moving parts,
  • 5 year warranty.
  • Rapid Heat up time

Oil Filled Radiators pros and cons, The Cons

  • Bulky,
  • Elements can burn out
  • Wasted heat in air exchanges
  • Mechanical Parts for temperature control
  • Energy Guzzling IN comparison to Stealth Heaters
  • Slow heat up time.
  • 2 year warranty

The Pros,

  • Time served method
  • Initial set up costs – cheap
